Stained glass windows

A while back, I said I would update you on progress on a set of nine large paintings to be displayed together in my mum’s empty hallway in her new house. Well, here they are finished.

My mum lives next to a church, so I wanted to paint the feeling of a stained glass window, with dark lead contrasting glowing colours of sunlight through glass. It’s hard to see in the photos, but I included metallic and, fluorescent and iridescent paints in these, so they catch the light and shine differently depending on the time of day, just like a church window.

They can be arranged in a variety of ways. This is just one possible layout.

I painted the edges stone grey, like church stone walls bordering stained glass windows.
