Mini-Comics

I’ve been making lots of zines lately for my upcoming art stalls. I love to nerd out on the details when making them. Here’s an example of what goes into making one. I am really liking this square format lately… 12 pocket-sized pages of mini-comics for people who can’t be bothered to read comics!

For each zine, first I pencil 12 pages including the cover. After tracing with ink and lettering by hand, I scan each image, colour the cover and layout the pages in a computer ready for printing.

I cut the printed copies into equal sized sections and then collate, fold, press and staple each zine as carefully and accurately as possible so that the finished product is as smart as I can make it. I get a real satisfaction from creating perfect copies but it can be tricky to achieve!
